Delivered jointly by The National Lottery Community Fund and The National Lottery Heritage Fund and supported by a number of grant support agencies to include Awards for All, Phoenix Way and others.
An informal and relaxed evening introducing your organisation to national funding bodies who have a desire to connect and support marginalised communities. The session will provide:
- Opportunities to meet and share your ideas directly with grant providers
- Tips on how to write successful grant applications
- Sign posting to other funding opportunities
- Identifying support avenues
- Q&A

2023 River Expedition: Pathway to Paddlesports Qualifications/Work
Fri 1st – Sun 3rd Sept 2023. A 2 day / 2 nights Canoe Expedition in Scotland
Following on from 2023 Introduction to Paddlesports / Watersports.
The 1 day Paddlesports Safety & Rescue Course is a pre-requisite to join this expedition.
The remote nature of this trip highlights the natural resources Scotland has to offer and the great way a kayak or canoe can be used to access these areas. During this river expedition participants will:
- Learn the basics of leading groups in remote environments
- Learn the necessary skills associated with paddling greater distances
- Learn how to lead a camping journey from your kayak or canoe.
The course will inform participants of further opportunities and signposted to suitable qualifications that can lead to paid work in the world of paddlesports.

2023 Introduction to Paddlesports / Watersports
Fri 5th – Sun 7th May Residential @ Glentully nr Pitlochry Scotland.
The 2 days will allow participants time to experience a variety of different disciplines; open water canoeing; white water kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding.
All equipment, tuition, self-catering/bunkhouse accommodation and transport from Pitlochry provided.
After this course, participants will be signposted to the following 1 day course.
June – Aug 1 day Paddlesports Safety & Rescue Course. Venue local to participants
This course will give you the basics in water safety and rescue techniques. A great course for anyone wanting to progress in paddlesports.

2023 Sept/Oct Expedition Training and Backpacking Journey
You must complete the “Safety & Navigation for Walk Leaders” prior to this course
This will allow participants to safely undertake wild camping expeditions.
All equipment & transport provided.
- Stage 1: June – Aug 1 day at Central Location – Expedition equipment and safety
- Stage 2: June – Aug 1 day at Central Location – Expedition planning
- Stage 3: Sept/Oct 4 nights / 3 days Expedition @ a location of choice

2023 Safety & Navigation for Walk Leaders: Applicable to all outdoor activities
NEXT COURSE: Sat 4th & Sun 5th MARCH Yorkshire Dales National Park
This will allow participants to safely set up a sustainable walking club for their organisation through navigational and group leadership confidence. The training will include outdoor safety and leadership and signposting to further training opportunities. What will be included:
- Leadership & group safety to include safeguarding service users / staff / volunteers
- Navigation techniques
- Equipment and clothing for members and leaders
- Planning
There are 2 options of delivery
- Bespoke training for your staff and volunteers. The content, duration and location are determined by the organisations needs. In the past we have delivered training modules in the Highlands of Scotland.
- Open courses. YHA Self-catering accommodation available

2023 1st Aid Trainer: Leading to employment/paid sessional work
Train to become a first aid trainer leading to freelance paid sessional work. After the Trainer Induction Week participants will be qualified to teach Emergency First Aid at Work courses, and shortly thereafter Outdoor First Aid courses with the First Aid Training Co-operative (FATC).

An outdoor leadership-in-practice learning experience with the support of a coach. An opportunity for your organisation to lead nature-based residentials. The duration and location are your choice. The process will involve:
- Planning: Venue choice / activities / logistics / transport etc.
- Delivery: To include coordinating with local environmental / outdoor activity experts
- Evaluation: To capture the learning and service-users experience
